The angel of the Cathedral of Girona crowns the bell tower of the Cathedral and acts as a weathervane, as it turns and points in the direction of the wind. The current figure is the third angel in the city’s Cathedral. However, even though for centuries the citizens of Girona have referred to him as an angel, at first it was a representation of faith, a figure also winged but with his eyes blindfolded, although due to his elevated position this detail went unnoticed and even during the Napoleonic sieges it lost its head. Therefore, the most obvious distinguishing feature was its wings, and everyone associated it with an angel.
