Icon of the skyline of the picturesque city of Girona, this emblematic building that has the widest Gothic nave in the world, it was chosen as the setting for the famous series “Game of Thrones”. 1000 years of history make up an architecture that leaves no one indifferent.

The cathedral of Girona has taken almost a millennium to be built. The works began in the 11th century and was not completed until 1975. The oldest part of the current cathedral is the Tower of Charlemagne, from the 11 th century. Later, when the new Gothic cathedral began, started with the apse. The construction of the central nave took place during the 15th – 17th centuries. The fa9ade was end in the 18th century, while the bell tower was completed in 1764. The entrance of the apostles was finally completed in 1975. The current angel, who crowns the belltower and is a vane, was installed in 1968.
