The current building of Barcelona Cathedral is built on an ancient Romanesque construction, which, in turn, is supposedly superimposed on a Paleochristian one. 1600 years of the city’s history for the construction of a building of such significance. The Gothic chevet was finished in 1338, keeping important earlier elements; around 1400 the nave and the clock tower were finished, but the liturgical bell tower was not crowned until 1545; finally, between 1882 and 1906 carne the time for the front part, the main fa9ade and the dome, which ended up forming a figure so recognizable.
