Eiffel’s Red Walkway

Designed by Gustave Eiffel before his iconic tower, the Pont de Ferro has become one of Girona’s most emblematic bridges. Its vibrant red color and unique structure offer unforgettable views: the cathedral on the horizon and the colorful houses lining the Onyar River as a backdrop. It’s a must-visit spot for those looking to capture the magic of the city.

This model meticulously recreates the charm of the Pont de Ferro, making it a perfect decorative piece for fans of Eiffel’s architecture and Girona’s unique essence.

The “Pont de Ferro” bridge connects the Mercadal a rea with the “Pla9a de les Cols”, now “Rambla de la Llibertat”. It is also known as the red bridge, due to the characteristic color of the old wooden bridge called “les Palanques Vermelles”, which was often washed away by the floods. The current bridge was built in 1877 by the Eiffel & Cia. from Paris, some years before the famous Parisian tower. They won the tender called by the city council presenting the lowest budget with a final cost of 22,500 pesetas.
